Basics of Concrete Mid and High-Rise Structural Design
Mid and High-Rise multifamily residential buildings are prominent features in city skylines, and many share basic commonalities in their structures. This presentation will discuss why concrete is a common material choice for this project type, and cover the fundamentals of the design of slabs, columns, shear walls and their supporting foundations. As with all project types, coordination with the design and construction teams is crucial. Case studies from over 15 multi-family projects constructed across the country will be illustrated to share lessons learned and unique challenges encountered during the design and construction of mid and high-rise projects.
