Construction Specification Writing Guidance
Description
Welcome to the world of specifications! Technical specifications are a contractual way to provide important project information to the contractor. If you are new to construction specifications or have been involved with specification writing and editing, but not as confident as you want to be, this session may help clarify your questions. We will learn about the history of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), discuss the industry standard numbering system, and where to find restoration topics within each Division. We will review how information is organized and general guidance for specification language. Writing specifications may not be your favorite thing, but being able to develop and understand information included in it is critical. This presentation will illustrate examples for keeping your writing clear, concise, complete, correct, and consistent!
